so everyone talks about messing with Lincoln's to get the rear disc brakes on these trucks.
well what year did rear disk's start? cant you find a truck of that year and grab the rearend and bolt in under your leaf's and be done?????????
what am i missing, theres got to be something
unless rear discs started after the lug pattern changed but i doubt that...
why cant you swap in a ford rear end with discs..

it might also have to do with how wide the axle is and it may not bolt up very easy
I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can.

up in the 90's is when rear disc got more popular on factory cars/trucks.
But as for the truck line you'd be looking for a Explorer Which would be a 8.8 rear, not a 9". Now you've go to weld and fabricate perchs and stock mounts. Not worth it in my opinion. Buy a disc conversion from Ford MotorSport and keep the 9". http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... 4294900976+
or used(not mine) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Rear-dis ... 0237489830&

I dont know what year you are talking about but it is very unlikly you will find a stock one. I dont know when they started putting rear disk brakes on, but I can tell you it was recently. probably 2000s, 1990s at the earliest. You aint going to drop a stock one under the leafs. Also there is more than the brake shoes involved. Disk brakes normally require a differnt master cylender and or porportioning valve.
I think your best bet is to look at an aftermarket upgrade package.

Only problem there is those are all 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern. You'd have to run 2 different wheels or change front end to match.convincor wrote:up in the 90's is when rear disc got more popular on factory cars/trucks.

all you need to do is redrill the rotors.

drill rotors axles and cut and grind all the perches off and theres alot. then add new brackets. they are beefer then the ones in the truck but they are wider too. i would just get some rotors that will work. fab some brakets and bolt the calipers on. its will be alot easier.

if theres a new way, i'll be the first in line. it better work this time
1970 crewcab 393w afr heads, 6 speed, turbocharged, 6 piston calipers 13" rotors on all 4 corners

The newer Explorer diff housings use the large 9" style bearing ends like in the Torinos. I imagine these old trucks use the smaller ends?? With all the fabrication you guys do, welding on new ends should be easy. Then grab the whole Explorer rear disk setup or buy this from Currie and have them drill it for your bolt pattern:
