9" questions
Ok I found a guy to rebuild my 9" for a price I could afford and now I need susgestions on gears and lockers. I would like to add posi but I am not sure what the best option for my use is. I plan on a 390 or a 460 w/ a c6 with horsepower #'s around the 350-385 at the flywheel and to drive it for fun, maybe head to the track just to see what it is made of. Gas milage is not a concern. I was told maybe a 340 to 360 gear. I would like to hear your thoughts and combs on you own rigs.

What size tires?
I would look at 3.7 - 4.11 for tires between 27-32" and 4.56 - 4.88 for anything larger than 35s.
jmo.

Re: re: 9" questions
I think you'd like the 3.70's (or 3.50-3.70). That's a good compromise for good acceleration in town and decent freeway running (don't expect to do 70mph all day long with the 3.70 though!). I have a 390/C6 with a 4.10 geared Dana 60 (soon to be a 9" with probably 3.70's) and ~29" rubber. It's going to be a Home Depot runner and weekend warrior with not much time on the freeway. Who knows? I may go to a 3.89 or back to the 4.10 or 4.11 if I feel I'm not wearing out my rear tires fast enough!71PA_Highboy wrote:What size tires?

re: 9" questions
if you plan on much freeway driving, i would probably stick to a 3.50 gear set. it is an all around good set for daily driver and still managable on the freeway. my truck would turn 2800 rpm with 3.50 gears and 27 inch tall tires @ 65-70 mph. Also a factory clutch style posi would probably be the least axpensive and they hold up really well if asssembled correctly.
