Automatic Transmission Recommendations

I'm have a 302 in my 67 SWB and have a C6 Auto right now. The transmission is leaky and I can't stand having only 3 speeds. I want to put something with better gas mileage but still have good towing capacity. Any recommendations? How hard would it be to put an electronic version in. Someone mentioned something about Tach Signal, TPS sensor, and drive shaft RPM. Are there kits for these sensors like TPS for carburated vehicles?

Ideally I would like to have one of those ZF transmissions from a Navigator.. . ZF 6HP26 as eventually i plan to put a modern motor in. Maybe a little ambitious.

not trying to question you, but is your fluid dropping in your C-6 or are you just seeing red, because if you have power steering box, they are notorious for leaking and you'll think trans losing fluid (at least my 68 that way).

No problems with the powersteering since it doesn't exist. i have the motor out now about to put in a rebuilt unit.
