Torque Specs

Post by sargentrs »

Hi guys,

Finally 'bout got her back on the road again. Changed gasket and seal on tranny this morning. Got flywheel ground Thursday and bought new clutch kit. Putting it back together this morning. Got flywheel on and torqued to about 80 ft/lbs. Put pressure plate on and started snugging her down. Making final round of tightening when "tick". Yeah, you guessed it. Broke a bolt off in the flywheel. Back off it all comes. No biggie, I'll take it to work and let the machinist get it out for me. So, when I start over again, what's the REAL torque specs for the flywheel and pressure plate? 302, 3 spd manual. Thanks!

Don't bother taking it all apart.

Rotate the flywheel so that the section with the broken bolt is at or close to the very bottom of the rotation, and then use a 1/8th inch drill bit from the front of the flywheel, turning it clockwise, to twist the bolt out.

this works 99% of the time (yeah, I've broken a few of them in my time  )

Thanks guys. I went ahead and took it off and brought to work and the drilling trick worked. Spun it right on out the other side. What about the torque on the flywheel/crank bolts? Don't want to break one of those puppies off!
