you'll need a press, dial indicator with magnetic base, inch pound and foot pound torque wrenchs.
I would be fine with a stock 4 pinion traction lock as my truck isn't going to raced, but I got a good deal on a Currie traction lock so I grabed it.
They can be bought new for $400 in 28 or 31 spline. The Ford units run about the same price but the Currie is much stronger. So if you where to go new, I'd say go Currie.

Cool, thanks. Are you happy with the Currie? I saw those for sale on Jegs. I was also looking at the Eaton Posi LSD unit but I haven't found an online place that sells them to get a price.

It's still on the shelf in the garage, but looks wise it's real nice. :D All billet machined surfaces, not cast like the Ford units. The clutches to rebuild are about the same as the Fords.
Did a quick look for that Eaton and they don't seem to list it for the 9".

On a side note, I don't know what type of weather you'll be driving in, but some people don't care for the way a locker behaves on icy roads. Makes the rear slide a little on corners if you're not used to it. Personally, I like them and can deal with it. I like the extra traction. :2cents:
