Early Bronco HELP

Hey Guy i found this site through Fordtruckworld.com maybe you guys can awnser the question i've needed awnsered!


so last night i did a handful of work to my 67 Bronco. I always knew that drum brakes were confusing, but not this confusing. anyways i ended up takeing my passenger rear drum brake assembly completely apart and have no idea how to get it back together

it has a 28 spline 9" rear end, i wanted to know if a 9" brake assembly off of a 72 Ford f100 will work if i just unbolt the 4 axle bolts and disconnect the brake lines take the whole thing off and bolt it up to the Bronco then bleed the brakes.

the rear drums on the 72 are near new anyway, they were replaced before the truck was parked. so i thought maybe it would work and i would get new drums out of the deal.

i would guess that the backing plate and all would bolt on with the four bolts. but i dont know if anything else would work right for you or not. i guess if you used the same brake drums that matched the backing plate and brakes it could work. the only other thing i can think of is wheel cylinder bore size. i have no idea if they would be the same or not. here is anohter bronco forum if you want to check it out. www.broncozone.com

It should work. I swapped all kinds of brake parts on a 73 EB between the stock 28 spline, a fullwidth 31 and also know the semi floater 60 I had from an early 60's F-100 used the same brakes as the 9 inches through the late 70's.

Basically, the backing plates have to match the width of the drums you have.

Just take the driver side drum off and use it as a visual reference.
