New Transmission Cooling Lines

Post by grantorinosport »

1971 F-250, Auto Trans, 360 engine, 2WD

I have just removed my radiator for service. The old transmission lines are cut and spliced a few times and look generally like they need to be replaced. I tossed the trans cooler attached to the radiator (had a new one sitting around).

I was going to order a new set from InLineTube.com, however they only had F-100/F-150 Transmission Cooling Lines for the 1970-1971 years.

Is there a difference? Does someone have them if there is a difference?

I have dealt with InLineTube.com before and was satisfied with their products. That is why I checked them first.

Thanks!

my only guess is that it has to do with the way they are bent. if they come prebent that is. or it could have to do with the diameter of the line. but i dont think thats it. the line should be the same size for all years. i have a set from a 78 sm block c6 that are bent differently than a fe c6. they are the same length i think but they are bent differently.

They are pre-bent lines.

Knowing the engine/transmission combo is the same offered in a F-150 of the same year/type, what else is different between the F-150 and F-250 that would make the transmission cooling lines different.

Or, are they the same, and the company does not know that and lists only the F-150 because that is all they know???

the f150 wasnt made until the dentside era. maybe the lines are bent differently because of the stance of the f250

My apologies, I meant to say F-100 (even though the InLineTube website says F-100 and F-150 for 70/71).

Maybe InLine meant f100/F250. Might be worth calling them and asking.

that is kind of what i meant . that the web site probably had f150 listed when it wasnt even an option. i wasnt blaming you. i was thinking thats what the web site was saying. so if they have that info wrong then could they have something else wrong. can you call them?

I went ahead and ordered them. I asked for it to be a 3-pc set becuase I will be installing a new auxillary cooler anyway. I presume the F-100 set should fit since it does not seem there are any significant differences.

I ordered a set for one of my Torinos about 5 years ago. It fit like a charm, and I was very happy with it.

Thanks for all the help fordman, and I'll report back when I get them and install them. If I have any problems I'll jot down the corrective action I took.

I wanted to get something soon. The transmission line is currently in 4 or 5 pieces because it has been cut, etc. Kind of wacky, and I just don't trust it. Since the radiator is out for a cleaning (and I tossed the auxillary cooler that was there due to it's terrible looks), it was the right time.
