what years can you put transmissions into

example 67 c6 to a 90 or after certain years do they have to be computer controlled why i ask is i have a good c6 out of a 67 f100 not oringinal by the way was mated to a 302 i am looking at a 90 f100 with a possible bad tranny can they swap? let me know if anyone knows thanks 68 3/4 ton camper special /72 3/4 ton ranger

the last year the c6 was made was 86. 90 will have a computer control in it. it will probably be a aod or maybe a e4od.

Craig, C6's were built into the 90's. :) I have an 89 E250 with one and I junked a 90 F350 that also had one.

First you need to know what tranny is in it. They did put the c6 in until 96. If it is a c6 it will fit, maybe some mods to the driveshaft, even if it has an aod it should be ok since the aod is not electronic.

No, they will not swap. The lighter F series all had the AOD and E4OD by 90. The E series vans and heavier pickups stuck with the C6 as an option well into the 90's and no, they were not computer controlled.

The EEC-IV engine trucks with C-6's had computers nearly identicle to manual transmission trucks.
