Clutch question

If this question was already covered I apologize, I couldn't find it anywhere.
Is it normal for the clutch to start to engage really close to the end of the pedal's movement? If that didn't make sense, I mean it engages right before the clutch pedal is fully released. This is on a '69 highboy. I don't feel the clutch slipping, so I'm assuming that's just how it is. Also, does having a 4x4 make it any more difficult to change out a clutch than on a regular 2WD?

It sounds like the clutch needs adjusted or the clutch disk itself is at the end of it's life and needs replaced.

The point of the adjustment rod that actuates the clutch release lever should be 1/8th - 1/4th inch from the lever itself...
I know it sounds wierd that he rod doesn't touch the lever, but that's is what gves it the proper amount of free play at the pedal...
When you depress the pedal, then the adjuting rod makes contac with the lever.

Upon driving the truck more, I found that the pedal has more free play to it than it did before. I can push on it a couple of inches before the clutch engages/ disengages. Still don't really feel the clutch slipping, so I'm hoping it just needs adjustment. Kaptnkaos I didn't really understand the directions you gave me for adjustment?

Push back on the clutch fork while pulling the push rod that connects to the equalizer bar forward. There should be 1/8"-1/4" space between the two.
