Yeap, I went outside and crayoned the data plate on the door and brought it inside, T18, 360 2bbl, 4.10 non locker, standard cab(i knew that). gas prices are horrible now. I pulled it home with my Dodge 1500 and got 8 mpg at $3.19 a gallon, I spent as much on gas as I did on the truck. The 4BT is looking better every day.

Yes, they did. Early T18s are over and up, later are over and down.

Then someone had either swapped it to a later T-18, or it was a NP435 and you were misinformed......

T-18s in 65 were over and UP.

T 18. It was not a np435. This truck was all original.

t-18 was over and up in 65. Change to over and down occured in the 70's.

I've given up arguing on web sites. For the other readers who are reading or who may ever read this thread, do your research with a couple of other sites and search a couple other sources and decide for yourself.

The t-18 tranny was an offshoot of the T-98. In fact they shared the same top cover initially, which can make things confusing with early t-18 trannies. The t-98 and the t-18 had R up and to the right. Later, the shift forks and top cover were redesinged so that R was down.

What I just wrote there is what every reputable source that I have ever read states. Arguing between the two of us is pointless.

Sometimes information on the internet is incorrect. I had a 1965 F250 Camper special 352. T18 reverse was over and down.My friends dad had a 1966 F250 with a 352 and 4speed with the same shift pattern as mine. I also test drove 2 1966 F250s that I was looking to purchase and BOTH of them also had the 4speed with the reverse over and down, period.

Another friend had a 1968 F100 with a 300 6 and a T 18 and reverse was infact over and up. My 1970 hiboy is a NP435 so we all know about those.

I'm just speaking from experience.
