Need to replace a gasket?

Post by nadams »

I am getting a serious leak from my transmission. Is there a gasket to replace or is it something worse?

which trans is this? and its leaking on the motor mount or near it i mean? the trans is further back than the motor mount. way further. that looks like clear liquid. are you sure its trans fluid? maybe the freeze plug is leaking near the motor mount and dripping onto the crossmember

4 speed trans. I just pointed out the motor mount to show the drip. It is behind the oil pan and dripping on the cross member then to the ground. I felt the oil it is thin but It is not water.

looks like the rear main seal might be fried. Pull the inspection cover off the bellhousing and take a look inside. Also check out the rear of the intake manifold, and the valve cover gaskets. They can leak oil onto the back of the motor which CAN get into the bellhousing, and all over around it.

At the least, take that thing to a car wash and get it clean!
