Nope, the 73 and up trucks have wider rear ends.

A good swap though, is to swap the entire housing over from a dentside to e bump side. It lines the rear wheels up with the front and in my opinion looks 100 time better. I want to do this on mine one day.

that would be a good one to do if thats what you were after was to line the wheels up. but you will have to move your spring perches to make it work. the spring perches are aso in a slightly different place on the wider 31 spline axled dentside trucks.

wider wheels with more offset would be easier than the rear swap.
Not mine but planning on taking advantage of the narrower rear.

No it doesn't. You can only fit a certain size tire in the wheelwell, regardless of the rearend width. With a different-width rearend, you'll simply need a wheel with a different offset to re-center that wide meat in the wheelwell.

Plus you could get rid of the 67 brakes and wheel bearings for something more obtainable if you need parts like drums, and probably bigger brakes too boot. A good swap IMO and what about the perches? Why does that sound like such a big deal to everyone? If you can't save the old ones when you cut them off then go spend some coffee change and buy new ones. If you don't have a pinion angle guauge use a torpedo level and a protractor to measure the old one and set the new one the same before you weld them up.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

yeah changing the perches is such a easy job to cut them off and reweld them. a pinoin angle guage is only about 10.00 for the one i bought.

That's provided you own a welder, and/or know how to use one.

Many people don't. 8)

15x7 front and 15x10 rear Those are the magic numbers for my 72. The outside edge of the front and rear tires are now in line with one another. I like the look also. Only con is wet road. The 72 wasnever a wet road lover, but now it is a little worse. If anyone wants to see the results, go to the website in my signature.

I don't mean to hijack...well yes I do, but just for a minute. How much narrower is our rear end than the front? 1" on each side or 2" on each side?

I know I've read this on here before but I can't find it.

:o Sounds like work. I hate welding, just let grandpa do it. So would it be easier to find a posi rear end then for the 31 spine?

I believe the rear track is 3" narrower than the front.
