cb radio power source question

Post by BigRedTruck »

there was a cb radio in at one time...I can't tell where they hooked it up from. You would have to add wiring right? There is no sign of this and since i'm looking at using those brackets again and putting in a new am/fm in the near future, I could do the wiring for the cd as well. The funny thing is, my dad does not reember any speakers for the cb. Would they have tied it into the main speaker?

Most CB's have a built-in speaker on the bottom. A lot of them also have a PA output, so you can either use a standard jack to wire it up to an external speaker, or wire it up to a weatherproof loudspeaker up under your hood, so you can listen for CB transmissions while you're out fishing. :) (Or holler really loud at dumb little kids playing in the street while you drive by!)

There should be a single red wire which would simply get spliced into the fuse box for power.

simple get the power from the fuse box, just use a half box end for the wire, so it fits over the fuse, and then run a ground. Thats how I have my cd radio hooked up, and it has a built in speaker, but you can wire it up for external speakers if you want.
