re: slip and bolt ?
so how does the slip work? when i looked at the pic i did not see any teeth for the yoke to catch in the tranny. how does the tranny turn the driveshaft when its slick?

The slick area is the seal srface the slip yoke is splined on the inside. If you look raelly close at the bottom of the pic you can see a slight sign of the splines in the yoke.

Always liked the "slip-yoke" much better.
You can loosen 4 nuts on the rear u-bolts and drop the drive shaft a lot quicker.

re: slip and bolt ?
Do certain transmissions use certain yoke types (bolt vs slip?) For example, do all NP435's use the bolt on kind? Do all C6's use a slip kind? What about the 3.03 and the T18?

re: slip and bolt ?
i would think that if the u joint does'nt wear out that two piece drive shafts would be stronger.
