69 F250 360 W/C6 Trans Tranny problem

Post by Jonboy7061 »

I just purchased a 69 F250 that has set for atleast 4 years. I got it home, got it started. The transmission goes into reverse good and hard but I was only able to get it to go into a forward gear a couple of times. Once it went into a forward gear and you put it in nuetral or park, it would not go back in a forward gear. When it would go into a forward gear it went in good and solid. I check the fluid, it is good. I checked the linkage and it is good. Is there something in the valve body that could be sticking?

If it is not the seals dried up you will probably need to pull the valve body and clean up all of the pistons. They will stick in their bores and not do what they are supposed to do.

Yes the fluid was red and did not smell burnt. I will remove the valve body and try to clean it and see if anything will free up. Thanks
