manual trans swap ?

I have a 360 with a t-85 overdrive trans, I also have a 302 with a ford three speed.(parts truck) Can i swap just the trans? Will it just bolt up to the 360 clutch and bellhousing? I am not adventurous enough to try without knowing first. Thanks

The trans from the 302 will bolt to the 360 no problem.The problem is the driveshaft.The T85 is longer than a 3.03.As long as both trucks have the same wheelbase you can just swap shafts.If they don't have the same wheelbase you would need to get a driveshaft made.

they have same wheel base. So i can just swap driveshaft. I have never pulled this trans before. Does the other trans just slide into the clutch?

Yes it slides into the clutch.A word of caution here.I just had a T85 on a freight scale.It weighs 120 lb dry.It can be a dangerous surprise if you plan to pull it by hand.

Thanks Alleycat, I will make sure i have my trans jack under it before i pull it out. By the way i wanted to move my shifter to the floor but the hurst truck 3 speed shifter will not fit a t-85. it fits any other ford 3 speed
