Hard downshifts?

Post by 04stangman »

Sup guys, I have a question about my 69 3 speed auto. Sometimes, not all the time it seems like it downshifts into 1st when I am slowing down kinda hard. It does not do it all the time. Sometimes it sounds like my xfer case..... but it has to be the tranny. It shifts down manually fine and there is no other problems that I am aware of. I changed the tranny fluid about 300 miles ago. Does anyone know if this is normal or if something is getting ready to break?

Sounds like a sticky governor assembly. Can be serviced from outside.
