spline count on 72 f100 9" axles?

what do we have 28 or 32 i assume 28 count correct?

There are 28 and 31 spline axles. 99.9% are 28. The 31's were only used in the big bearing housings which are very uncommon under bumpsides.

If you still have the tag on the axle this will help:

If not, you might have to pull a wheel, drum and axle shaft to ID it.

yeah its still on there believe it or not but its too cold to crawl on the ground right now. im really surprised at the condition of this truck i know it was inside for quite awhile
