Ominous noises in first and second gear. Does anybody know of sources for parts (column shift 3 speed in my 68)?
Would it be more sensible to find a good used trans and swap it?
If so, where would I most likely locate one?
Thanks for any help.

re: Worn out 3-speed
I have a couple of those laying around, I am near Charlotte. NC
I will take a look at them and see which type they are. Long or short tail housings. Bolt on or slip yoke. Which one do you have?
I'll make you a good deal on one if I do have the right one
I had one rebuilt years ago in Charlotte by a Corey's Trans. It was about 300 back then,
Let me know if you are interested

I'm not sure about the length of the tail housing. I'll measure from case to end of tail housing. The yoke slips over the splines on the output shaft, so I guess it's a slip yoke.
I'm in Shallotte, just north of South Carolina line.
I'll get back to you with the measurement.
Thanks very much.

Hey, cdeal.
The tailshaft housing is a little over 7 1/2".
I've also started a thread regarding the availability of a T-85 that would fit my truck. No leads on that yet, though.
If you have one, give me a price and I'll decide pretty quick.
Thanks,
Gator
