I have that ratio in the F100 coupled with the 3 speed and the 300-6. Pulling is not a problem. Racing and cruising at 80 on the interstate... well lets just say the ole 300 is wound pretty tight at those speeds.

3.70 not for hiway driving, when I do make long trips, I'm doing like 62-67 mph. but then I go pretty easy on my vehicles nowadays. Id bet these trucks are not seeing that much hiway driving anyway. I like the torque, driveability, and pretty good mileage.

If you have a OD trans to help control the RPM of the engine I don't see what differance it would make to the rear end? Lots of racers use the 9" rear ends at high speeds in circle track racing...how would a nice smooth highway be any differant/worse?

I have 3.7's in may truck and drive 70 mph all the time. I have never had it get hot or had any problems. Just keep the fluid filled and the vent working and you should be fine.

I had a 3.70 in my 71 back when it had a 351W AOD in it. Cruised the interstate well at 70-80. Sucked down the gas at those speeds though.
