Transmission Questions
I just bought a 69 F 100 and the previous owner told me it had an Automatic 4 speed. Is this possible? It has a 360 in it when I drove it I only felt it shift twice although I figured it would be a C-6. Thanks

re: Transmission Questions
There are no overdrive transmissions that bolt up to an FE. I'm sure the guy just didn't know WTH he was talking about, and that you've got either a C6 or Cruise-o-matic/FMX.

re: Transmission Questions
Thanks I didn't think it was a four speed. Are there any advatages of either the C-6 vs the Cruise-O-Matic?

re: Transmission Questions
The C6 was developed later. Supposedly a little more stout and and can handle more abuse, not to mention easier to get parts for. I have no experience with the FMX though.

Do you think the C-6 would be cool with a 390? Not doing much to it just an electronic ignition, headers, aluminum heads, and 4 barrel.

The C6 is a pretty darn durable auto. If I had to have a slushbox, it'd be a C6.

390 FEs were mated to C6s from the factory all the time back in the day. You'll be fine.Do you think the C-6 would be cool with a 390? Not doing much to it just an electronic ignition, headers, aluminum heads, and 4 barrel.
