Just bought a 72 Crew Cab. The fuel gauge is not working so I need to get access to the tank in the cab.
Do I need to remove the rear seat to get access to tank? Or does it fold down somehow?
Thanks

and I second muchtomydelight, we want pics!
Theoretically the back should just fold forward, which'll give you well enough room to get to the tank. I'm not sure about crew cabs, but I would assume they use the same seats as the standerd trucks and when I took out my tank thats what worked for me. Just remember to remove the fuel lines and filler hose first....I'm sure everyone besides me was bright enough to think of that when they did it

re: Crew Cab Question
My seat folds foreward and appears the same as a front seat but by 72 they might have had those safety loops bolted on like the 73 and later seats had. You had to remove them to get the seat to fold. I think they were a federally mandated safety item.
Also off topic but I notice my factory line setting sheet still in the seat springs on the 69. It looks too fragile to try and get out tho.

re: Crew Cab Question
Yeah, there was just a piece of flat metal with a hole that went over the stop and bolted to the side arm of the seat back side frame. I had to take it off my 74 and newer trucks for the seat to tilt foreward. They were highboys so maybe the 2wd had a latch or something.

re: Crew Cab Question
I am sure you have your answer by now. But for what its worth in my 1970 crew cab both front and rear seat backs fold or pivot forward. No loops, no levers, just grab and pull forward
