ok just a question for everybody,

How do you convert a 67 pickup from 2wd to 4wd??? i've been having to go through a TON of snow latly with 2wd and it sucks bad. I'm been having to use my friends truck to get to school and work just so i dont get stuck. So i was cuirous what it would take to do this.

it would be easier to buy a 4wd. you would have to change the fron axle get a transmision and transfer case. chasnge the steering box and steering column get a front driveshaft. cut out the front crossmember and weld in new engien perches to the frame. to much money and work to do it. i think.

My personal view on this is I have the tools, skills and parts to do it and have done it. Several times. The only time I'd even consider it is if the 2wd truck is in unbelieveably pristine condition, I have a 4x4 parts truck with all the little things I need and I have a couple weeks of free time to get it done.

Another point I hope you don't take offense to, but the question of how to go about converting from 2wd to 4x4 isn't one that I would expect to be asked by someone who could undertake it.

One thing I wholeheartedly believe in is you can accomplish anything you really want to so don't let that deter you, just take the time to really inspect and compare a 4x4 to your truck and make sure you grasp the scope of the project.

I take no offence to that reasoning i guess i should have been alittle more clear. I ask this question because i've never done a trannsmission and driveline type stuff before. Also last night i was thinking of how much a rebuild kit for my transmission would be.Its a 4 speed Manual tranny.

the other reason i asked how to do this is because i didnt know what parts would be needed to pull it off. I know i can do this task but i just wanted to ask you guys.

Also one more thing any help i can get i plan to write a article for FORDIFICATION on this so if someone else wants to do it
