transmission
I am putting a big block (460) in my truck sometime in the late spring and early summer I had a C6 but not sure of the condition and would like to leave it a manual transmission and was wondering what kind of transmission to look for (this is my first ford build so I am not sure what to look for) I don't need anything special just something will hold up to the big block it will be slightly built small cam and .060 over and a good intake and that is about it. Any advice would be great!!

re: transmission
if you are not looking for O/D i think the NP 435 would hold up to the power that 460 would put out. I have heard good about the T 18 also.
I'm sure there will be lots of other opinions also.

I have a NP 435 I don't need anymore, but the bellhousing is for an FE. You would have to find a bell housing for the 460. Tranny works good, just wanted an auto. I'm in Cheyenne if your interested.

The bells are really hard to find to mate a 460 to an NP435 or T18 if you wanna use the 460 flywheel. Ford product in 1986 only a pickup with that combo.
You can use a 351M bell with an FE flywheel, but the 460 needs to have the 2Y crank or while rebuilding the 460 have it all rebalanced.
1978 and below (2Y crank) are internally balanced and newer then 1978 (3Y crank) are externally balanced. This is very important when doing these combos. The flywheel has to match unless you take the whole mess into a balance shop to be matched up.

re: transmission
the transmission I have in the truck right now is a T-18 but bolted to a 300 six but i was looking for something a little higher geared. like a 5speed sense it will have the big block and not used for towing much the higher gears would be much better for the truck.
thanks for all the info
