What transmission do I have?

Post by farmtruckman »

I have a mystery. On my 67 F100 LWB, I have a FE motor with a 3 speed trans with a 14 bolt pan. Trying to find a filter/gasket and having no luck. It doesn't fit the bolt pattern of a C4 or C6 or a Cruisomatic/FMX. Truck is completely stock. Any suggestions, at the local Shucks and Autozone, the filter is similar for an FMX but lacks a hole in the filter, (this one has two at opposite ends, and the gaskets are wrong pattern. I am really thrown on this one. Anyone know what model it might be? :? :? :?

fordman, thanks for the info. According to your link, I have a "medium case" Cruisomatic. Now the real question is, do you have any idea where to find the filter/gasket kit? Even LMC doesn't list it. I will try Ford after the holiday.

Thanks again.

i have no idea where exactly. if the parts stores cant get them then i would start looking at all the vendors web sites. someone has to be able to get them. i know you can make a cork gasket for it. but the filter i dont know. maybe the old type of parts stores. like napa or greenlight or carquest.

Thanks Fordman,

Thought I would hit the Ford dealer in the AM. Meanwhile, I can always cut a new gasket out of a sheet. Can solvent wash filter and reuse, even though new is nicer. Went on the web and couldn't find much.

Thanks again for the quick response. Happy New Year :D

have you checked rockauto.com? Is a 352 an FE? If so, they've got a filter kit that looks like what you're describing. It's under Ford->1967->F100 Pickup->5.8l 352 cid->Automatic Transmission.

Farmtruckman, have you tried NAPA? If they can't find it tell them to look in the filter book not the computer. :)
