TV cable ?
ok, here is my dilema. I have a '70 model Ford short bed that when I bought, had a 4speed on the floor. since then, the tranny has been removed and replaced with a 5speed TREMEC. now the 5speed is out and an AOD in it's place. my question is this, do I need to use a TV cable and what is it's purpose? is there a bracket I need for this cable and where can I get one?
I'm also using a B&M floor shifter that I bought off a buddy. is there a bracket kit that I need to make this shifter work with my AOD? he was using it on a chevy 700R.

re: TV cable ?
shortbedCUSTOM,
I can't help you with the TV cable thing but...
All B&M shifters used to come with a couple of different brackets, (one for th350, one for c-4, one for c-6, etc.).
I think their shifters are awesome, (I've got the "truck" one to go into my future bump build)!
Can you identify it from one of these:
http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id=pr ... 2&subcat=1
If so, they do have a tech department that could get you the right mount.
Hope this helps,
Jeff

Yes you have to use the tv cable, it controls shift points( pressure in the trans) you will burn it up without it. Here is an option to hook it up

Here is how to adjust it.

I think you'd be better off going with satellite. You'll need a lot of cable, or you'll have to stay close to home. Actually, turn off the TV and watch where you're going.
What is a TV cable?

"Throttle Valve" cable.
Lokar makes what you need, you absolutely MUST hook it up, and you cannot use a stock one with a carb.

those cables are expensive... they're more than what I paid for the tranny.

re: TV cable ?
Tv what?
but as for cable shifters make sure you carry a spare cable. nothing sucks more than when they snap and leave you screwed.

re: TV cable ?
ok, I guess I should of mentioned that the tranny came out of an '89 Stang. it has the stock TV cable still attached. can I use that cable? if so, I'm assuming that ALL I need is the bracket to attach it to the Edelbrock carb I am using. can someone point me in the right direction for this bracket?

Re: re: TV cable ?
No one can point you to said bracket because one does not exist. The geometry is all wrong and any attempt to adapt the stock cable set up will likely result in the TV valve in the transmission being destroyed.shortbedCUSTOM wrote:I'm assuming that ALL I need is the bracket to attach it to the Edelbrock carb I am using. can someone point me in the right direction for this bracket?
Lokar has what you need...

Wait for it...
LOKAR
That is a nice bracket, but the fine print on the photos say it requires the cable kit. It is quite a bit more elegant than the one Lokar provides with the cable.
