I have a '68 F100 short bed with a 360 3 speed manual. When I bought it the driveshaft was horribly bent, so I had a new tube put on it. When I tried to reinstall the driveshaft, the slip yolk only went in about 3" and stopped with a solid thud. I figured moving the truck with the bent driveshaft screwed something up in the transmission, so I pulled it and took off the tailshaft. As you can see from the photo, there is only about 3" of spline, while the slip yolk is about 6". There is a lip after the splines, so naturally the yolk won't slide on any further.
My question is, is this the correct slip yolk for my truck? I am guessing Ford didn't design it with half the slip yolk length sticking out of the tailshaft. I tried looking for a replacement slip yolk, but places like Rock Auto don't even list one for my application. I'm considering cutting down this slip yolk until everything seems kosher, then run it. BTW, the end of the splines is where the end of the tailshaft is.
Can anybody comment on what I have? Thanks.
Kris

re: Slip yolk question
I had to cut the yoke off when I went to a T5 Tranny. Just eyeball real close that the splines go all the way back inside the hole, then cut off what you need. Smooth the spline ends with a half-round file. That tube is a lot softer material than I expected. Also champher the outer edge of the tube with a file so you don't hurt the seal when installing. Mine has been running for the last 4 years with the shortened yoke, no problems.

re: Slip yolk question
My short tail 3 speed had a splined output but a nut held the yoke. Your's looks like a C4 yoke. I'd cut it, that yoke doesnt move with the suspension, it stays stationary.

re: Slip yolk question
You only need about 1/2 in of room for movement of the axle. That will give you about the maximum support on the splines.
