Bronco 9"

Post by convincor »

What do you think of using a 74 Bronco 9" in a F100???
Spring perchs would need to be changed but planning on putting the rear above the springs anyway... I'd be gaining about 1-1/2" per side for tires..
Any thoughts???

You're not really going to gain anything from the work involved. Yes, the housing is narrower, but since the springs are going to be in the same place, you haven't achieved anything, except needing some wheels with a different offset. When installing wider tires, your inboard limit is the springs...that's what they're gonna rub first. If you want really wide tires, you're going to have to at least move the springs inside the frame.

Your right. All I'd be gaining is using a deep dish wheel. If I really want to narrow I'd do a ladder bar set-up with coil overs.. Just not yet..
Reason for thinking the Bronco rear was more for a 3.50 gear traction lock for $275, complete drum to drum.

if it was a 28 spline you could just swap third memebers.

I'd think you could buy a 3.50 LS 28 spline center chunk for far less than that.

Can get rebuilt for $350 and up.
I've got a 3.50 open, Watching for a 28spline TL.
May as well just rebuild what I have and add the TL.
At least I'll know what I got...
