axle rebuild, 69 Camper Special

Post by Faltura »

I will be rebuilding the front end of my truck in the near future. The radius arm bushings are mush, however I don't see any play in the king pins. Would it be ok to go ahead and disassemble the king pins and replace the bearings, then assemble the pins as they were? Is it possible to do so?

I would just leave the pins alone if it weren't for the thought that the bearings may be bad. Has anyone dealt with this before?

the wheel bearings? you can do those with out having to remove the king pins. if your talking about the king pin bushings then you have to replace the pins and bushings as a set. i have heard that is is sometimes pretty hard to remove the kingpins with out using some sort of heat and a bf hammer.
