Any 4 speed come with 3.0 rear end gears from the factory?

Post by mrtleavitt »

Has anyone seen a '67-'72 4 speed manual truck come with 3.0 rear end gears? I've seen a 4 speed with 3.25 gears, but never with 3.0. The reason is that I need a speedo gear from a 4 speed with the 3.0 ratio so my speedometer will be correct but all the ones I can find with this rear end are automatics.

Which gear you looking for? The one inside the trans or the cable end.
The trans that you have should have a gear inside it. Count the number of teeth on it, (this will be the drive gear) You already know your rear end gear ratio, now you need to know your tire hight in inches (measure from the ground to the top).
Now use this calculator to find out what gear you need on the end of the speedo cable(which is the driven gear). You should just need the driven gear to correct you speedo.
