re: 1971 f250 4x4 Manual Steering Question
It drives like crap? Wanders all over?
Have someone wiggle the wheel back and forth... 11 O'clock to 1 O'clock...
Watch the pitman arm... if the center of it moves rather than rotates the box needs work.
Not sure if that answers your question... Can you be more specific?

Nope. The 65-77.5 Ford F-250 4x4 box parts are all obsolete. unless you have a super dooper steering box repair place that can pull parts out of their *ss.
If the box is leaking, that's a good sign, it means it's not empty. These boxes are tough as nails and most go for a decade or more dry before giving out. If it isn't sloppy put a 50/50 mix of gear oil and grease in it and keep going.
Very hard is a relative term... you shouldn't have an easy time with the wheel unless the truck is rolling with manual steering. Check trunnions and tie rods.

I have an extra set of seals if you want them... That way you can reseal the box and stop the leaks...
