you will need a torch a pair of rubber boots a cow pie. a left handed monkey wrench. just kidding.

1. remove the horn button with a push and turn motion.

1a. take the small horn spring out of the steering wheel and put it where it wont get lost.

2. remove the nut from the steering wheel center.

3. take a steering wheel remover and remove the steering wheel.

3a. once the wheel is off there is a spring to take out and put aside.

4. then you can reach the srcews that take the switch out.

5. once it is all loose get in the floor and uncouple the wire connector from the main harness.

6. inside the wire connector are several pins that will have to be removed from the connector.

6a. mark the location of each pin before removal of the pins.

6b. to remove the pins you have to have a small tool to release the pins from the connector.

7. once the pins are out tie something to the pins like a piece of string. long enough to reach through the entire column.

7a. then gently pull the wires up and out of the column from the top where the wheel is. you might even put some dish soap or similar slippery substance on the wires before you pull then up. untie the string and leave it in the column.

8. now the hard part is to put the new wires and switch back into the column. using more soap or what ever. lube the new wires and hole with your soap. tie the string on to the new wires and pull the string back down through the column until there are back into place.

9.once you have this done the rest is just put everything back together the way it came apart.

fordman,

Good destructions / I mean instructions!
Hey, you forgot to mention about pounding on the steering wheel puller with the left-handed monkey wrench, (this is when the stubborn side of our antique trucks fails to give in)!

If all your doing is replacing the "CAM" you don't have to pull the switch out of the column... but you do have to remove the steering wheel...
