Carrier Color?

Post by BobbyFord »

Anyone know what the carriers are painted with stock?
I've got my truck all apart and I'm sandblasting the leafs, diff housing, brackets, etc. and prepping everything for paint.

Not the frame, the diff pumpkin. Stock, they are a reddish, rust color.
I don't know if it's special paint or what.

O.K., how about the stuff they use on internal parts of electric motors? What's that stuff called?

Some people use it for engine valleys and cylinder heads.

The underside of the body from the base of the firewall back (the entire underside of the bed included) and the rear diff center are red oxide primer on our trucks.

That's of coarse assuming you have a 9 inch rear. Dana axles were chassis black.

O.K., I guess it's red oxide primer.
Is the Glyptol more durable? My dad painted the inside of his 466 with it.
