Post by f350dumper »

Does anyone know if the ring gear on an fe with a np transmission can be flipped over when it is worn, or does it need to be replaced?

You could flip it, but for $15 for a new ring gear or $35 for a whole reconditioned flywheel I don't think I'd bother.

most ring gears have a lead in for the starter on one side only. so probably not. if you are really strapped for cash, you could knock it off and turn it around 45 degrees. it only seems to be the spots where the motor stops that get worn.
