Unknown parts...

Post by Darrman »

I have found a number of unknown things in the dash while stripping it down.
First pic, this little socket looking thing, found it tangled in the ebrake pedal area, no bulb and not like the other light sockets I have seen so far.
Second another socket, with a bulb, with a length of wire and a quick connect on the end.
Third, this was above the glove box, I am guessing it was the hazard switch, because I am missing it from the inside of the glove box.
Any help I.D.ing these parts would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

The first one (153) is the brake warning light. It is on the lower left face of the dash. The second looks like a regular instrument panel light.

The third looks like a fuseable link of some kind to me.

The 3rd one I have found under the dash of my 71 F100. ALL I know is if you jumper it the engine will turn over. Mine does not have anything connected to it though and my truck was a straight drive originally so I wonder if it is part of the neutral switch?

I think you may be right on the third one, as from what I can see of the colors they do match some of the diagrams for the Hazards... but there should be 4 wires... What year truck is this??

DING DING DING....

You are the winner...

That is the wiring to the hazard lights... the switch has fallen off the bakelite backing...

Thanks for sparking my memory!

What am I doing here?

Thanks, looks like I need to find a switch now.
As for the second pic, I am sure its not a gauge cluster light, I rebuilt it already and all were acounted for. Plus this has a factory quick connect and the guages are hard wired. Could it be for the heater controls?

Hey Darrman...

Yes... I'm pretty sure that's the light for the temp control. you can tell by the pig tail coming from the light socket.
