No modification to the plastic kit if i remember correctly (i did the install also) You just have to bend the metal ears back that hold the factory radio in and drill two holes!

I was considering the 'radio delete' cover and install hidden amp
and speakers with ipod connection only. It would be sweet
with hidden fm reciever and ipod with fm transmitter. No wires!
There is a ipod battery/transmitter that I want to look into
called Powerfm by Duracell. Maybe just a switch on the dash
to turn on the fm tuner and amp and you could just control the
volume with the ipod. What do you think?

Your setup looks very nice btw.

It says it works with the 2nd generation nano but I only see
pictures of it with the 1st generation. Maybe the new version
has already come out: http://www.batteryfuel.com/drpwfmn2-app ... -gen2.html

Did you know that when I drove home from san bernardino ca to san antonio tx I played my ipod continuously for just over 24 hours straight without recharging it? The battery really does last a long time. I don't know how the fm transmitter will effect it but the duracell powerfm is
also a battery pack which is good.

The only difference between the Volvo and the Bumpside installation is it gets installed upside down in a bumpside.
