Radio Speaker Options Sought

Post by farmtruckman »

Anyone know where I can get a decent speaker to go in the stock position on my 67? I am mounting the stock radio back in it but went with an aftermarket speaker similar to what LMC sells, and the problem is the depth of the speaker, because of the huge magnet, is 3" which then bumps into the radio. I don't know of any shallow speakers in the 6" X 9" range. Worst case, I will go with a round speaker smaller, and foam tape it in position. Since there is a dash pad, it is almost impossible to see the radio speaker now. Any ideas? :?

I know NPD sells them, too... but you're saying the stock-replacement speakers are too deep?! Yikes...

Why dont you just put a sony xplod 260wts speaker in it!!!!!!! or some thing like that. In my truck I had 3 speakers one where the old one went and then I had two speaker boxes in the floor. And with the radio I made a box that fit down under the a\c so I still had the old radio in the truck and I did not have to cut or do anything to the truck! and man does it ever sound good. My speakers are 220 I got two of them for 67 dollers for a pair so I had to by two pairs and im still trying to think of where I can put the 4th one lol
