proportioning valve/brake line questions
Ok, I'm on a roll, because not having easy time finding proportioning valve, so I'm studying and running searches and absorbing all I can to figure out my options. There is a vendor on ebay who has Bronco and 4 wheel drive F150 proportioning valves (disc/drum). By the way, I'm researching because wanting to rebuild my 68 1/2 ton (2 wheel drive) front end and convert to discs same time.
But, would there be any difference in this prop valve ebay vendor is selling (new) that says it's for mid-70s bronco and 4 wheel drive F150s? I would assume would work on my 68 conversion to disc, it states same size (3/16ths) and electronic switch. OR, am I missing some LMC or Dennis Carpenter listing for mid-70s prop valves that are new and in stock? I swear I wouldn't be asking so much, but not finding much old stuff around these parts, have an ad in wanted section here and I'm getting no where. I"m getting anxious to drive my truck and really loose tie rods and kingpins preventing that, anxious to rebuild and do disc conversion and only prop valve and brake hose frame brackets holding me up for 2 weeks so far. Thx, Banjo.

re: proportioning valve/brake line questions
Yeah, I need to remove my drum/drum distribution block and replace with disc/drum proportioning valve and disc/drum master cylinder. I've got one more yard within driving range I spotted a mid 70s dent from road other day, going tomorrow morning to see what's left.
Have ya'll seen the ebay proportioning valves that are NEW that are from some Bronco supply house? the ebay ad says mid 70s Bronco and F150 4 wheel drives and says 3/16ths fittings, so I'm wondering why that woudln't work or if it would. I'm asking because I have not found any new proportioning/combination valves anywhere else, UNLESS I'm overlooking some source. I even called local ford dealer, no luck. And, I'm kinda leary of using the stock drum/drum distribution block with an inline (behind it) universal thumbwheel job that dials down pressure. I thought about that at first, but more I read on what all proportioning/combination valves do I get leary those thumbwheel things (I've got a brand new one laying in my garage I bought and never used on another project) won't do everything a factory proportioning valve does. Banjo.

re: proportioning valve/brake line questions
I guess I don't know of any reason why a 4WD proportioning valve wouldn't work with a 2WD, other than the different mounting style.

re: proportioning valve/brake line questions
well, I got lucky it was a 74, I was there when they opened, took 2 1/2 hours, but got the prop valve off and metal lines that run from master to prop valve and 1 line from prop valve to driver front. The bad news, had to whip the living he!! out of driver frame brake hose bracket to get it off bottom bolt that wouldn't back out. I guess it's nutted inside frame rail, couldn't get to it, trying chiseling, but gave up. And pass side brake hose frame bracket huge rivet, gave up on that. But, at least I got 1 fixeable frame brake hose bracket, it can be welded where I got rough with it, I believe.
Now, how does one clean out a prop valve??? thanks for all your help, banjo, tired but happy. I even drove Otis (the drunk truck) down there to get it, dang, he was all over the road. Sure look forward to front end rebuild and discs! I sure hope this prop valve is good.

my get lucky comment referred to I went to about last junkyard I hadn't been too where I'd spotted a Ford when they were closed from a distance, and it did have prop valve left.

re: proportioning valve/brake line questions
I filled up a small coffee can with brake parts cleaner, and let the valve soak in it for a couple days. Then I took a can of aerosol brake parts cleaner with the straw, and blew it into all of the ports on the valve.
We'll see if this method works for cleaning the valve; I'm in the middle of the disc conversion on my truck, too.
