possible front clip candidate?

A guy on another forum says he is working on a front suspension for me, to see if it will work, he is using the 73-87 i believe chevy front end. He says they are rear steer, so the whole oil pan swap won't be a problem, nor will running an extension from the column to the front steer box. I will try to remember to post it up if you guys want.

What's your opinions on this, I have never cared to look at these trucks....



edit: after looking i think he has his years mixed up, does anyone know which chevies were rear steer?

Those are a good candidate, since the frames are the same width. 'cobraf100' used that generation for clipping his bumpside. He posted some pics at this link:

so the one he used was in fact a rear steer setup? I had always thought chevies were always a front steer design. I don't have my years right, do you know what years the rear steer setup ran?

I just spoke with chriss at IF custom and he told me that of all the chevys he has worked on he doesn't remember seeing any rear steer ones.

see, thats what i have always seen as well, from 67+ atleast. if no even early and mid 60's....or earlier.

why do you need rear steer? my buddy make bracket that change some spindles to rear steer and you could do that. the ones he make changes newer strut mustangs spindles to be used in 60's mustangs. his kit uses a rack thats only like 80 bucks. not sure what it was is but its a 90's ford car.

just figured if i was going to build something, i may as well build something that doesnt involve opening the motor.

i guess. if you want to to be rear steer i would use a mustang II and get a rear steer rack. build the brakets that to on the spindles. it be much easier to get a rear sump pan. there tons on the them. i use to have 3 sitting around for a 302.
