Ok so a little background, the colum is from a 73-77. It's an auto column. The transmission is from a 71 torino. I mixed and matched parts to get to where I am now.
Now my problem. The needle doesn't line up when I shift the truck. It'll go through all of the gears and the needle will only go over to the D. Now I'm wondering if the shift lever on the transmission is different for cars than trucks. Like the truck lever is longer? What do you guys think?

From what I have seen they are about the same. Unless you have somthing odd. Sounds like your column is doing somthing funny.

It would have to do with the car-type transmission-mounted shift lever being shorter. Swap it out for a truck-type shift lever and things will be back to normal. Or you could just weld an extension onto the car-type lever, though it might take some trial-and-error to find the right spot.

Yeah, you have to pull the pan and drop the valve body. The shift lever is held in with a large nut. It's not hard, just kinda messy.
