Whats the best way to clean glass?
The glass on my 71 looks to have water spots on it and looks like it could be much clearer. How would you guys recommend cleaning the glass? I was thinking maybe useing Bon Ami, has anyone tryed this? A buddy of mine suggested polishing the glass?
BTW, all the glass is the original oem.
TIA

i use a 50/50 mix of alcohol and vinager. put it in a squirt bottle and go to town with newspaper or brown paper towels. call your local window tinter and ask him. they have to hae the windows perfectly clean to get the vinyl to stick right. he'll tell yo the best stuff to use.

Thanks for the quick reply
Your 50/50 mix sounds good, but my problem is on the outside of the windows...Looks like hard water spots

One good tip for really getting glass to shine...after you get it cleaned up, wipe them up with some wadded-up newsprint. Yep, that's right...just wad up some newspapers and start rubbing it in.
Believe it or not, it works like a charm. Give it a try!
I heard about this years ago and thought it sounded like a stupid idea, until I actually gave it a try, and I have to admit I definitely noticed the difference.

I wonder if the oils in the ink do something to help clean and shine the windows? Soy oils I mean

the only problem with the vinigar is that it makes the interior smell like a salad for a few days.

re: Whats the best way to clean glass?
I used plain old white vinegar and newspaper as well
as a sharp razor blade to get paint and junk off.
I cleaned all the windows in my house. You know
the casement windows with the cranks on the bottom.
I really got addicted to cleaning them. They looked
so clean after getting 50 years of grime off of them.
I just scrub off all the heavy dirt with lots of
vinegar and paper wadded up and then with a fresh
piece of paper and just a few squirts i kept rubbing
them until they squeaked and shined with absolutely
no streaks.
I also had similar results on 80 year old windows
on a house which probably had never been cleaned.
That old wavy glass looked really good afterward.
Since I had burglar bars over the bottom half
of the window I took a small brush on a handle.
I think they sell them for washing dishes and scrubbed
between the bars with the vinegar. Afterward I just
sprayed it down with the garden hose. I think that's
how i did it.

re: Whats the best way to clean glass?
Dang, I just remembered that I could never get
the glass really clear in my '71. It was especially
hard to see through when the sun was shining through
at a certain angle. I thought this is just something
that happens to the old windshields over time.
does it look like this? Maybe this is just a dirty window.
