Has anyone ever replaced a support bearing. LMC truck sells them for 20 or 30 bucks, and since the transmisstion shop mangled mine (stretched forward), I was wondering if they are pressed on the slip spline or?
Any help would be appreciated.

I replaced mine a couple years ago. I remember that I wished I had a hydraulic press to get the old one off and new one on. I spent a half day beating on it, then "friend?" cut it off with air tool. Damaged shaft 
and I beat new one on using a piece of pipe and 4 lb hammer. Works okay now.

I think I will take it to a machine shop, or, hmmm, maybe NOT. With my luck with machine shops, I think I'll do it myself.

I replaced mine 2 years ago, and didn't have any problems with it at all. Of course, mine hadn't been buggered up either. Just worn completely out.

like all good baerings...you can die grind them off carefuly slowly use lots of w-d 40 
and a pipe excact size as inner area of bearing and a heavy rubber mallot will do the job go slow but steady.oh and do bult it to the frame before bolting the shaft back to the trans Voice of experiance here.

Thanks everyone, I think I will take it to the (new)machine shop after all. I've got it in my vice, and it's been stareing at me all week, and I haven't done a thing.
Machine shop (Engine shop) finally got my king pins out - one of them took 20 tons to get out.('

Doesn't surprise me too awful much....When I did mine,
I had them hot with a torch, and had the whole weight
of the truck on them, and they wouldn't even think about
budging. And that was after soaking in rust juice for a long
time...I don't know how hard it was to press them off at the
shop I eventually took the axle to...They didn't mention
anything, so I assumed it was no big deal for their press...
I guess some are even worse than mine were....

Well, over the phone he said he wouldn't even touch them, since I already heated them with a torch and the spindles wouldn't even turn, I mean they were FROZEN on there. But I finally convinced him to do the job. So now I am going to just put some gloves on and give him the axle with bearing on it, and the new bearing (I haven't bought yet).
