Top starter bolt hole on C6

Post by import600 »

I was curious if this mount hole on the c6 is threaded? Just to be clear, not the starter side, the trans side of the hole. The head of the bolt that mounts my starter there is stripped. I wanted to grind it off but didn't want to do that unless the hole isn't threaded. anyway, thansk guys.

This might be a little late, BUT:

All 3 of the starter bolt holes, at least on my FE C6, are threaded.

Looks like a helicoil could be in your future...

:) As far as I know C6's with 2 bolt starter mounting the lower hole is threaded and the upper is not. These trannys have 2 different bell housing patterns. One fits 240 & 300 sixes and 289 ( 6 bolt bell) 302 , 351C and 351W.The other fits 351M/400 and 429/460 engines.

C6's with 3 bolt starters have all 3 holes threaded and only fit FE series engines. :)
