I have always had point problems and want to upgrade to electronic ignition but don't want to replace distributer . was wondering wear I can buy a kit. website or store

I f you do not want to change out the dizzy. You can go Pertronix. I've seen them on e-bay.

I think Crazy Larry used the Pertronix kit.You may want to check with him or anyone else that has done this swap.

This is something I've been thinking about doing as well.
Since I'll have the dizzy out for an engine overhaul, and don't mind replacing the unit, what do you recommend for a system?

I like MSD myself, but then again I haven't tried anything else. I bought a complete used MSD 6al for about $125. Came with 3 step box and a bunch of other stuff I didn't need but it worked great. I plan to buy a newer MSD system when my truck is done. I have had no complaints.

I've heard the Ignitor 2 is a big step forward in reliability.
Crane has the XRi for Ford V-8s, I liked mine, but some say the new advance plate binds in them, so YMMV.
Hard to beat an MSD, but its big money compared to a sub 100.00 conversion.
There is always the duraspark swap as well.

Thanks everybody I ordered the pertronix this is a beat up truck that only hits the road about 2 times a month I know the MSD is the best choice and there was some negitive reports on the pertronix but I hope it works for what I need I will post a report in a week or so on how it works.. Thanks again
