5 Lug Dana 60? Rare?

i have a 1966 1/2 f-100 with a dana 60 and 3:54 gears,i put a 351 windsor and a c-6 in and i have a problem with it maxing out my rpm's top speed abouy 45 or 50 sounds like your running in first gear,, it drive ok around town but is no good for highway at all, it pushes my rpm's up which runs my water pump too fast for the water to cool or so ive been told,,others have suggested that my tranny is slipping,,i dont know what to think ,,any suggestions?

The 69 i have has a Dana 60, 4:11 posi, 5 bolt The truck was a 360 3speed overdrive. The truck is in the for sale section.
