A C6 has only one band, for 2nd gear. To adjust it, loosen and back off the lockdown nut on the square-headed bolt on the left side of the trans, tighten the square-headed bolt to 10 ft. lbs, back out 1 1/2 turns and lock the nut back down.

Follow the same procedure to adjust the front band on a C4.
For the rear band on the C4 (low/reverse), follow the same procedure as the front band, except back out the square-headed bolt 3 turns.

My small block C-6 acted like it was slipping and did odd stuff. Wouldn't shift from 1st to 2nd had to do that manually and wouldn't go into 3rd at all (no matter what). Took it to Trans shop where it sat for 5 weeks and he finally drove it and his solution was to put a new peice of vacuum line between intake and hard line and same at bottom and naturally that didn't fix it. So he gave up. I drove it home and figured what the heck, dropped under $12 w/tax and all for a new vacuum modulator and fixed all my problems. Me and my buddy were joking about it, saying he could have done the same and popped me $125 or so and I'd never been any wiser. I'd have been ashamed if I were a transmission shop and couldn't diagnose and fix that. But, my truck is so double ugly and I have gave up on it twice and both times, despite sitting for months, mechanics won't touch it. I guess they figure other things will break when they start messing with it. Banjo.
