I've got a battery, bought in 1997, that hasn't been used since 2000. It's sealed, but should I even bother trying to charge it?
Should I just recycle it?

re: Old battery - still good?
Well, I don't suppose it would hurt to put a charge to it and see if it'll take one, but I think I wouldn't be entirely comfortable driving very far from home with it. What kind of battery is it?

If its a Duralast, you should have no problems. I know it's not a Diehard, you would have had to have it cored it in 97.

What kind are they? A good rule of thumb is how heavy the battery is. The heavier, the better since that means more/larger plates. While there are lots of "suitable" batterys out there, I use Interstate. They have proven to be unbeatable. I hear the Optima is good too. Diehards are ca-ca.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.
