Electric Windows
I figured this would be a good topic to discuss. I am considering this becuase my window handles and regulators are POS' and rattle to all hell. How hard is the install? I know electrically it can't be too hard, but what about in other respects? Has anyone done this? Does anyone make kits that aren't just universal?

I bought mine from http://www.a1electric.com/catalog/cat_fordtruck.htm. I hope to get them installed next week. After looking at them they should bolt to the existing holes.

re: Electric Windows
I bought the exact kit Ditchdigger did. I didn't know when I bought it but the kit is intended for '67 only. Although it bolts perfectly to the mounting holes the actuator arm hits the division bar inside the door. What I did to fix the problem was to slightly trim (about 3/16") the two rearmost standoff spacers between the mounting plate and the motor, and slightly bend the actuator arm. other than that, I love the kit and it works great. The switch kit they sell is decent although the switch bezels are plastic. The switches fit great where the old crank handles were with a little trimming.

re: Electric Windows
I'm surprised they only make 'em for '67s. Sounds like not that much work to make a '68 - '72 version.

re: Electric Windows
I don't know what they WOULDN'T work on the '68-'72 trucks, since the window regulator is the exact same part....no difference whatsoever. And the door release mechanism on the '68-'72 trucks is actually smaller than the '67 version, so I wouldn't think there'd be anything to get in the way....but maybe it does:

Definitely post some pics of the kit, Ditchdigger, and maybe some follow-up after the installation.

Keith,
Maybe you know why, maybe the style or location of the division bar is different. All I can say is when it wouldn't clear the division bar (no matter how I adjusted it in and out) I e-mailed the manufacturer and they told me I would need to modify the actuator arm because the kit was designed for '67 only. Mystery to me!

Comet: The window regulators are 100% identical between the '67 and the '68-'72 trucks. I set a '67 and a '70 piece side-by-side and looked them over VERY carefully, and see absolutely no differences between the two, even minor cosmetic differences. Here's a shot of the two (ignore the spider's nest in the '70 regulator...guess I COULD have wiped it down prior to taking the pic!
):

The one thing I DID neglect to do was to make sure the regulator handles intechanged, but I believe they do.

Keith, if you look in the catalogs like DC they all list a different part no. for '67 only. If they were identical, they would have the same p/n. There must be something different. In addition, when I was looking in junk yards for a reg. for my '71, I firts bought a '67 and it did not fit. I do not recall what was wrong exactly, but I thought it had to do with the mounting locations. Not really sure though.
That's MR. Jackass to you fellah!
