Which Tranny??

I have a 240 with 3 on the tree in my 67 right now. I am thinking of making it an automatic. What tranny should I be looking for?? :?

C6 if you want a bullet proof tough unit.
AOD if you want overdrive.

Didn't they use the C4 behind the 6 banger?

I would personally go for the C-4, it will take less power to run.

Anything that would fit a 302 should fit.

C4 has an 11% loss
C6 has a 22% loss
AOD has 11-14% loss (depends on the model and the site you are on) AND has an OD gear.

FMX and Cruse-o-matics might work but those top 3 are better.

How bout a price on a good used tranny at the junk yard? What is reasonable price on tranny. Heading out to the yards tomorrow.. thanks

Don't know if our prices are relative to Texas, but I've paid as much as $350 for a "guaranteed to work" at regular yards. The U Pull It's around here charge about $75, but that's pretty much As Is, if it works; great, if it doesn't; tough.
