Anyone Know what transmission this is? It is a 4-speed

Post by gmcjimmy88 »

Truck has gone to the great showroom in the sky.

I have a friend that has an 87(ish) F-150 that he is scrapping Monday. It has the 4.9L (300 C.I.D. I think) Fuel injection with a four speed. The truck is supposed to run but he was told it had a blown head gasket? Anyway, here are the pics of the trans and the numbers I found on the Drivers side of the case. Can anyone tell me what it is and if it is a good trans? Thanks for the help.

Oh yeah if anyone needs parts from this truck let me know and I can find out how much he wants. Or if someone is interested in the whole truck I sure you could buy it for a few dollars over scrap price. Thanks again.

Yes it is a ford emblem below the numbers. What exactly is a TOD? Good, bad, or decent? Thanks again

I would like to know the same info. I would assume it would be better than my current 3-speed but not sure. Any info anyone can provide would be great.

Uhhh not much info out there because they were purdy crappy. Not a granny first, not a tough tranny either. Very few even made it out of the '80s in normal use.

Cool, you were lucky. There was just a thread over on FSB about a guy who found a parked truck and it was dead after a short period of driving.

Other info I have found it is the same length as a NP435.
